The questions I had before starting a Direct Selling Business.

 

There are many phases or levels in a direct selling business. The most difficult one is the beginning phase when you are confused and are full of doubts. I had a hard time deciding whether to take this step or not. Before I came to my final decision, I had already researched direct selling and its ups and downs. So, I will take you through my journey, the questions I had before joining the QNET direct selling business and their answers from my own experience. 

Unlike any other industry, direct sales are easy to enter and exit. What attracted me to QNET was that it is cost-effective. All you need to become a business person is to buy their products and resell them. With less capital and more hard work, I became a businesswoman. Direct selling also gives you few choices; one option is buying products and selling them to profit, like in a typical retail business. You have another attractive choice of creating a new team for you by adding people who are interested in direct selling business. 

Is direct selling business legitimate?

First of all, a direct selling company is a retail business anybody can do with very little capital. You can start the business by joining and buying the products of a regional, national and multi-national direct selling company. Buying and selling products as per the regulations of QNET and the Government of India is safe and legitimate. 

Direct selling is legally approved in India, like in many other countries. In addition, the Consumer Protection Direct Selling rules of 2021 ensure the rights of direct sellers by making all the direct selling companies accountable to the guidelines of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. 

Am I risking my day job to get into the business?

I was not up for quitting my desk job and risking everything on a business. The expectation from direct sales was to gain experience in business and find a good source of extra income. My advice is that there is no need to quit your job to be a direct seller. It could be a part-time thing which you can manage well with the day job. One advantage of direct selling is that you can set the time and pace, and it depends on the effort you take and the plan you hold. 

How hard will it be in the initial phase?

As I said at the beginning of this article, the time, you begin the business will be the hardest phase. But don’t worry, you will receive great guidance from experienced sellers of QNET. If I could give you one piece of advice to help you through the initial stage, it is to understand the products you are selling and to whom you are selling them. Knowing your target customers and their product preferences will be a great asset when building a business team. 

How important is a good strategy in direct sales?

Your success is primarily the result of a good plan. It will be an absolute waste of time and effort if there is no strategy, not just in the case of direct selling but in any other business. To lay out the perfect plan for your business, consider the time you are willing to spend on the QNET business, know about our products and their specifications, create a target audience and develop networking and communication skills. 

What are the rookie mistakes to avoid in direct selling business?

Even though mistakes help you to learn and grow, some of them might have a long-term effect on your business which you should avoid at all costs:

  1. Know that QNET is not a get-rich-quick scheme; in the retail business, you have to put much effort and hard work to get profit and make your team successful.
  2. Do not spread misinformation or lies about any products you’re selling. Learn about the company and product specifications to avoid spreading inaccurate information.
  3. Know that direct selling is teamwork, so do not just work for yourself but try working well with the team and grow together.

Is face-to-face marketing or social media marketing better?

When I started my QNET direct sales, it was just face-to-face marketing; I introduced this company and the opportunities in person to my friends and family. However, later on, I realized the scope of social media marketing as it covers a large group of people and avoids the transportation cost. Based on what I have learned from all this time with QNET, it is better to balance one-to-one and virtual marketing

Both the face-to-face and social media platforms have their unique advantage. In the case of using social networks, you will be able to get a bigger reach quickly. On the other hand, you can clearly explain the business, gain their trust, and build a better relationship with customers with direct marketing.
