The first thing my mentor told me is to be independent and learn to make decisions on my own. She didn’t tell me solutions to problems and got me through challenging times. But guided me through ways I can find the solutions.

Once again, asking for help is not the problem; in fact, that’s why we need a mentor and their guidance in the first place. But depending on mentors and others to make any business decisions means you are not fit to lead an independent business. So, each time I faced challenges, I started dealing with them on my own and only approached others when I was in a situation where I truly needed help.

Giving Help is Better than Receiving

From closely observing how my mentor in business deals with everyone and everything, she sure does follow this noble value. More than receiving help from others for the business, she loves giving help. But still managed to rise as one of the leading businesswomen in network marketing. So, surely, giving help is better than receiving. It helps us grow, learn more and stay humbled. By helping someone start a business and supporting them in leading a business, we are helping a person’s dream and career. Giving help and not always receiving it is a sign that you are becoming independent and a confident leader. Once again, lending a helping hand is a sign of a great business leader.

Financial Literacy is the Key to Success in Business

A good mentor will be financially secure and teach their downline how to use their money effectively. One of the lessons my mentor told me was to spend under our means. Avoiding unnecessary spending and starting to save and invest money can help a person become financially secure. Now financial security is an aspect that helps a person become independent. The freedom financial security gives applicable in business and personal life. This is particularly true for women because financial security is liberating and empowering. A good mentor not only helps their mentee to make money in business but also teach them to spend properly. The financial security I enjoy now, I owe it to my mentor.

Becoming a leader takes time, hard work, confidence and a heart to help others. I saw a great leader in my mentor. She supported and inspired me to succeed in business. These three success lessons were my biggest guide in business. She motivated me to be independent and grow as a business leader.
